ABOUT LCU

More Americans die each year from lung cancer than from breast, prostate and colorectal cancer combined. Despite the overwhelming incidence of this disease, comparatively few clinical trials and research initiatives exist in this arena. Many attribute this disparity to the lethal nature and social stigma associated with a lung cancer diagnosis. The recent emergence of new biologic therapies, the efficacy of adjuvant treatment approaches, improved screening techniques and increased patient advocacy efforts have provided a greater imperative to delve deeper into this complex disease.

Lung Cancer Update, the fourth audio series launched by Dr Neil Love and his CME group Research To Practice (RTP), attempts to bridge the information gap and provide community-based physicians with ongoing access to the perspectives of research leaders with an expertise in the management of non-small cell and small cell lung cancers. Lung Cancer Update for nurses is also produced by RTP, giving these important players in the treatment continuum similar access to the unique perspectives of physicians, nurses and patients with lung cancer.
