OVERVIEW

Neil Love, MDOver the past 18 months, our continuing education group has hosted three Live Think Tank meetings in conjunction with major scientific symposia, bringing together renowned clinical investigators to discuss and debate current controversies in cancer management for an audience of practicing clinicians. Based on the overwhelming success of these dynamic and exciting events, we have decided to continue to utilize this innovative format to create interactive and truly unique educational experiences.

This symposium is our most recent effort in that regard and is our first ever focused on the management of lung cancer. For the event, we will assemble a panel of six renowned clinical investigators with expertise in lung cancer to serve as our faculty. During the meeting, we will ask five of the panelists to deliver five-minute commentaries, each explaining his level of agreement or disagreement with a controversial clinical management issue. The panelists will then debate the merits of the presentations and will provide their perspectives on a variety of relevant topics.

To foster a high degree of interactivity and audience participation, 100 select attendees will receive a networked laptop computer to use during the meeting to ask questions and make comments in our proprietary oncology chat room. While I moderate the meeting, Dr Hanna will assist by reviewing the chat room comments as they are posted and by electronically communicating common questions and themes to me during the meeting. By doing so, we hope to be able to seamlessly integrate a wide array of your clinical concerns into the discussion and debate in real time.

Our group is extremely excited about this meeting, and I hope you will make plans to join us for what should be a most interesting educational adventure.

Thank you for participating.
